Guest guest
Hi all! I went to the pain clinic & they are recommending a procedure that sounds scary too me. I was wanting to see if anyone has it. I can't remember what it's called... (maybe " intrathecal...something.....). They put a catheter into the spinal fluid & place a small pump under the skin. They fill the pump with pain medicine & it is deliverd directly into the spine at whatever rate they set it. I have had 9 sterile abscesses from injections so I'm prone to having bacteria drug into my skin with needles. The possibility of menengitis really scares me. If anone knows firsthand about this procedure, please share with me what you know about it. Thanks! Deanna
Guest guest
Deanna, My advice to you is: If you are scared, or are reluctant for any reason, don't do it. By all means, discuss your fears with your doc. But if he can't allay them, don't do it.
