: Recently they changed my meds from oxycontin (100 mgs. 2 times a day)

to Kadian (60 mgs. 2 times a day). I also have Actiq pops for breakthrough

pain. The Kadian doesn't seem to work as well as the oxycontin, and I

noticed that they gave you that for breakthrough. I have an appointment at

3:00 this afternoon, and was wondering on your reaction to the Kadian? I

did run short, and I think they were punishing me. They actually sent me

home with a prescription that they knew I would not be able to fill for four

days. They said I would have to " pay the price " for running out. I was not

abusing the medication in my mind, I have several days in the beginning that

I used extra, thinking I would be able to take less later, which later never

came. I have now set up some help by a therapist, some antidepressants

etc...I want to try to explain this to them, but I feel like they have

already labeled me. Anyway, any thoughts on how the Kadian is working for

you would be appreciated. Robin

Robin,

if the pain clinic continues to treat you that way, I'd suggest that you

make a complaint to JCAHO and then find a new pain clinic if possible.

They are required to treat any pain over a 3. Below are the pain

management standards for JCAHO. The URL is kind of long and if it wraps

to the next line, sometimes the link doesn't work then, so you might

have to cut and pain the complete URL into your browser.

The JCAHO main website is: http://www.jcaho.com/
