Guest guest
A few months ago, Randy got a shiner right above his right eye. Over the course of a few days it spread to the tear duct side of his eye. Then, finally the bruising finally ended under his eye on the 'temple' side. It looked terrible, but he never complained of headaches or was nauseated, so I didn't take him to the doctor and it healed completely. I actually had a soccer ball hit the bridge of my nose when I was about 14 yrs old. My nose bled a bit, but no other bruising. I found out 16 years later that I had broken my nose back then and developed a significant deviated septum. So basically, the bruising may be not a correct indication as to whether his nose was broken or not. If you have any doubts, then you could always take him to the doctor as a precaution. --Sange > > Is there any possibility that the undereye shiners can spread across > the bridge of the nose? bc thats exactly what looks like is happening > with brennan. > Im sure if he fell and whacked the top bridge of his nose I would have > heard some screaming, and hes been home with me all week. Guest guest
Valarie, I know exactly what you are talking about. When my kiddo is run down or fighting an infection she gets this odd discoloration across the bridge of her nose -- it is similar to the color under her eyes. We have no explanation for it. Our daughter is chronically neutropenic so it does make one wonder about that and autoimmune stuff. Please let me know if you find answers. Our daughter's fades after a few days of us worrying. Guest guest
Just and FYI, I ALWAYS take a picture of anything that I think the doctors may question if they don't see it with their own eyes. I actually sent pictures of 's surgical site after his port was removed and I felt it was badly infected. Once they saw the pictures, they had him come in immediately for cultures and high dose antibiotics. Until that time, I had called the clinic more than 6 times and they all said that if it wasn't actively draining and he was fever free, then it was concerning to them. I love my digital camera!! Guest guest
Shiners are mostly caused by allergies, but if the adenoids are huge, they won't go away, even if all allergens are removed. We're about to have my son's adenoids removed because they are so enlarged, and I hope his shiners will finally disappear. > > Here is a decent write-up on shiners and their relation to allergies. Guest guest
As you may know, both my kids have them. I was given three explanations before metal. 1) thin skin showing the veins 2) B6 deficiency (maybe that one was right...due to metal) 3) allergy (daughters has left somewhat though not completely on the new diet so perhaps that is partially correct) For those familiar with shiners and metal...what is the deal? Do you see the blue blood more because the metal is making the blood heavy so it does not move as quickly? Low blod pressue is also prevalent in my fluoridated family.
