Guest guest
Christy, If there is one thing I have learned it's that ANYTHING is possible with pancreatitis. I Have been diagnose with Moderate to Severe Chronic Pancreatitis. I have been doing well for the last year or so and I just had a CT Scan done in May. It showed there to be nothing wrong with my pancreas. I have other documentation stating I have calcification of the pancreas, but this last CT Scan showed nothing, so this latest doctor sent me on my way stating that I was well and that there was nothing wrong with me. I believe all this lastest scan shows is that there is nothing " going on " with my pancreas now. For sure I know that I am sick with this disease. My amylase and lipase levels RARELY ever rise anymore, since I have gone to the CHronic form of the disease. As far as foods, stay away from high fat foods, fried foods, high fat dairy etc. I keep to a daily fat intake of no more than 25-30 grams of fat a day. Stay away from medicines that contains alcohol. CHeck cough syrups, nyquil and raw vanilla extract. As for pain meds, if the doctors haven't perscribed anything for your child yet, I don't know what to tell you. If it is indeed pancreatitis, OTC meds just don't cut the pain. Try warm to hot showers with the water cascading over his abdomin area and back when that hurts. Use a heating pad for the abdomin and back when that hurts. These 2 items really work. I have a hot tub I keep at 104* or higher year round as the helps to releave the pain. I would also seek another pediatric pancreatic specialist. Check with your health insurance people to see who they have in their network that you can use. DO not stop seeking an opinion just because you were given the ones that you were. If your child was in so much pain that he required morphine to ease it, then there is definatly a problem. Keep searching, keep looking and good luck! Sandy California mcconroy2002 wrote: > Hi, my 8 year old son had a distal pancreatectomy due to trauma from > a bicycle accident last month.
