Guest guest
Well, Mike had his surgery on Wednesday, it took 10 hours. The doctor removed his spleen to cure the splenatic thrombosis. He said Mike had the worst case of pancreatitis that he had ever seen. 70% of his pancreas from the tail to the head was totally hardened. He said it was like cutting through wood. He removed 70% of his pancreas, there was a small smushy area, he said it was not like anything that they had seen (they sent it for testing) between the hardened part and the head. He removed everything but the head, and resectioned his stomach. He is doing well, except for his blood sugar is not regulating. Mike was not diabetic going into this, but is staying on insulin drip. I wonder if 30% was all that was working and he is left with that, if it will work. I'm getting ready to go back into ICU, just wanted to update you. Our surgeon did a wonderful job. He is supposed to be one of the best pancreatic surgeons in the nation, we do believe that noone else could have done any better. Updates later, Becky
