Guest guest
Hey - The CT scan w/contrast made me completely sick about an hour or so afterwards. I was almost unbearable to drink but later it was horrible. My stomach was knotted up and I had very severe diarrhea from it. Guest guest
Hi , I was recently in the hospital with a pancreatitis attack and became very nauseous and had diarrhea after the Ct with contrast. I thought maybe since I was NPO and on Morphine maybe it was the combination. Take care, Patty Louisville, KY
Guest guest
Hi , I am allergic to iodine (and shellfish). So I alert the hospital to the allergy. They use an alternative to the iodine contrast thereby preventing any allergic reactions, which can include nausea and vomiting, or in my case, additionally, hives, cold sweats and mild shock. I unfortunately found out about my allergy the hard way some years ago when injected with a contrast. It is the first thing I say now before any procedures or test. Might be worth exploration in your case. My best to you, K. > Hi Everyone, > Do many of you find that you become ill from having the CT with > Contrast??? > Warmest wishes >
Guest guest
Hello , Yes, I have to say that the last time that I done abdominal CT Scan using oral and IV contrast, I became very ill. This was the first time that I done CT using contrast. Before I done without using it. But in the lab they said that to be more clear dx, iodate contrast is the best. Soon after the procedure I had a real bad bout of waterly diahrrea. This lasted a week. I had to call the lab, my doctor, I had to use a special medication, a lot of liquids to avoid dehidratation, I passed days on bed, with pain. It was not so nice. Now, I'm not prone to do it again. My doctor said that it's not a common reaction. In fact I'll explain what he said about this. I drunk close to 6 glasses of iodate water, in 20 minutes. As my bowel is very sensible, there's not time to make a proper absorption for all this water, so this pass through, irritating me. I think that IV contrast was not the problem. All the best, Liane you wrote: Hi Everyone, Do many of you find that you become ill from having the CT with Contrast??? Guest guest
, I've had 12 CT-scans with contrast in the last 2 years. Some don't bother me at all, one caused me an acute attack. Other's will give me a day's worth of diarrhea and pain. It always varies, but I have learned to be prepared and try to take it easy for the first 24 hours after the procedure. I hope this helps.
