Guest guest
Hey there! I hope all are well. There is a new family at my clinic. Well, the mother is still pregnant, but they know that the baby has CF. The baby has a blockage and will probably be delivered early. Elyse's doctor asked if she could call me for some support, which I am happy to do. Elyse did not have these type of complications. If there is anyone willing to help this new parent by sharing their expericence, I would appreciate it. She may or may not call me, but I wanted to have a couple of e-mail addresses of people that have gone through early surgeries, etc. Please let me know. Guest guest
Collenn, I have two girls with CF. is 6 years and is 19 months. was born 8 weeks early with a blockage and required emergency surgery. Which at that time we had no clue about CF and what was going on. now with my second child I was monitored very closely for any signs of blockage, and we were much more prepared knowing. I will be glad to help with support in anyway I can. Tracey Oldham Toldham@... help for new parent Hey there! I hope all are well. There is a new family at my clinic. Guest guest
You are welcome to give her our email address. Our daughter was born with an intestinal blockage which resolved without surgery. Some require surgery, but some don't. We didn't know before she was born, and I had to be induced because I went past my due date. I did have quite a bit of additional amniotic fluid as a result of the blockage. I would be happy to speak with this new mother about our experiences. Guest guest
My son Zach was born 9 weeks premature because my water broke. The next day the NICU doctors discovered the meconium ileus. His blockage did not require surgery. For two days a radiologist did x- ray enemas to dislodge the blockage. This might be an option for the mother-to-be instead of surgery. Luckily they already know the baby has cf. Zach was sent home and we only found out a 6 weeks ago that he had cf and he is now 14 months old. Hope this helps. Sara > Hey there! I hope all are well. Guest guest
Hi - I just wanted to offer my help if you need it. My now 4 month old went through this in November. She was born early - 33 weeks - due to meconium ileus. She has surgery on day 1 and despite lots of hospitalizations - is doing very well. Let her know I've been there and I understand! Guest guest
My son, Jack, was delivered by emergency C-section eight weeks prematurely after my leaking severe amounts of amniotic fluid for nearly a week. He presented normally (aside from being a preemie) but didn't pass ANYTHING for five days after birth. The Docs did an ileostomy on day five and told us that they suspected CF as being the reason for his condition. Indeed, Jack DOES have CF (he's double Delta 508). Honestly, I would have given ANYTHING to better prepare myself for his diagnosis and how to handle the road ahead. But... thankfully, our NICU Doc put us in touch with another nearby family with one child, now 4 years old, with CF. ly, I wouldn't have made it without my " Mentor Family " . There is something especially comforting in knowing others have walked in your shoes and have real and honest feelings to share... including fear. My son is approaching his SECOND BIRTHDAY next week and it seems weird at times (that aside from CPT, enzymes, ADEKS, checking poop and monitoring nutrition, and thousands of sheets of hand-wipes) that I do INDEED have a NORMAL child. He just has a condition that requires more attention from me as a parent. I am very open to speaking with other new parents that are dealing with Meconium Ileus and the possibility of an " official " CF diagnosis. Please call collect if you wish (). Guest guest
my son was born almost exactly 2 years ago with a blocked intestine (complicated meconium ileus). He had major intestinal surgery and was 11 weeks premature. If she wants to call me, please let me know and I will give you my phone number. She can also visit his website at www.babyfergie.com > Hey there! I hope all are well. There is a new family at my > clinic. Well, the mother is still pregnant, but they know that the > baby has CF.
