Guest guest
Dear Donna, You are speaking about the spiral CT-guided scan of your abdomen and pelvis with contrast to investigate and probably drain whatever it is that appears as a mass near your incision site, correct? I don't think anyone here has been holding back anything from you in their efforts to explain what they can or know about this procedure. Without knowing for sure what is there, it's very difficult for any of us to predict what steps will be taken. That's why the doctors are doing the spiral CT-scan, so they can see what it is and deal with it accordingly. In my instance what was found were pseudocysts, one very much larger than the other, and the decision was made by the radiology surgeon to partially drain the largest pseudocyst by fine needle aspiration. Other times it can be drained by inserting internal drainage. Since they are inserting a cathrater with your procedure, it appears that they plan to drain through this if necessary. You have to realize that every situation is different, and until they know what's there, no one here can really commit to commenting any more about the final outcome. Do try to concentrate about the positive aspects of the relief you should have as a result of their procedure, instead of worrying about the worst case scenerio. I know I felt tremendous relief from my pain within a few days of my procedure, and I know that you should have that to look for. I hope this helps. We will be thinking of you and praying for your quick recovery. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl.
