Guest guest
Marce, unfortunately, there is no cure and currently, the standard treatment for Acute Pancreatitis is to put you in the hospital and put you NPO (no food or drink by mouth, not even ice chips), give you pain medicine and then hope that your enzyme levels go back to normal. If you are having continual pain after that, you may have chronic pancreatitis. Chronic pancreatitis has no cure and the standard treatment is to give the patient pain medication and nausea medication if you are also having nausea. There are some surgeries that have given some patients relief from pain, but it tends to be a temporary effect and for many patient, the pain and nausea return after about 5-10 years. A good website to explain treatment options is: chronic pancreatitis: http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1 & organ=4 & di\ sease=24 & lang_id=1 Acute pancreatitis: http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1 & organ=4 & di\ sease=22 & lang_id=1 Both URLs are very long and if they don't work, highlight the whole string (including any section that may have wrapped onto the next line) and put in your browser. Both pages have a pull down menu if you roll your mouse of the " select a Section " title on the right side of the page. Read all the sections. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
