Guest guest
Heidi, Sorry for the delay in responding but I didn't have the answers. The Answers are: 1. Her Doctor is Dr.Trate in Boone, NC. Not sure if he is specialist. 2. There is no history of alcohol. The family feels that the problem began last summer after she had abdominal surgery for a blocked colon. But it may be coincidental. 3. She is doing enzyme supplements and vitamin B-12, and a low fat diet. But for most part can't eat much of anything. 4. Gaye is a small person who normally weighs about 95 lbs. She is down to 65 lbs. now or appx 1/3 of her body weight. 5. The Boone doctor referred them to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. I don't think to a specific doctor. Appt is next Monday. THis past weekend Gaye's daughter was here in Delaware and we explored the internet. Apparently Mayo Clinic is rated at or near the top in this speciality (as well as others) and I would love to convince them to go there. The daughter would like it too. But there is a seeming reluctance for Mom to go far from home. I also provided info on MUSC and Dr. Cotton If you have any other thoughts or suggestions, they would be welcome. Many thanks, Lee ______________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ ORIGINAL MESSAGE From: " hhessgriffeth " <hhessgriffeth@h...> Date: Thu Sep 4, 2003 2:48 pm Subject: Re: Sister In Law ADVERTISEMENT Lee, I'd like to second Kaye's recommendation of MUSC in ton. Dr. Cotton is Chief of the Gastroenterology Department and is excellent, as is any member of his staff. Dr.'s and Hawes are both very exerienced, also, and have treated many of our members for the chronic pancreatitis and related surgeries, procedures, medications, etc. Explore their website at: http://www.ddc.musc.edu/ddc_pub/index.htm Is your sister presently under the care of a gastroenterologist at all? Do they know what caused her pancreatitis? Have they prescribed enzyme supplements and vitamins to help her with her meals? Is she following a low fat diet? Is she on any medication? Sorry for all the questions, but if you could answer some of these questions, we might be able to be of more help to her. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
