Guest guest
I was reading the post about Methadone, which I have taken, I discussed this again with my pain management Dr. because I had to go thru some withdrawl associated with having my pump put in. He did not recommend it, said it is too hard to regulate, and seems to have a oversedation problem after being on it for a while. When I took it I had lost a pain management Dr. ( due to his arrest) I was sent to this Dr. who swore I only had muscle pain and her desire was to take me off ALL pain meds, this drug did not help the pain and I felt soooo very bad on it, I would not suggest it. It is a controlled substance and it is used for those with addiction to opiates as a way to wean them down, has anyone ever heard of a methadone clinic, it is used mainly for heroin and other opiate abusers to keep them from going cold turkey. I am not saying this drug does not have a legimate medical use and it has helped many people, alot of Drs. that are ANTI narcotics will RX this, I am glad the person you meet has recieved relief from it. Guest guest
, as always, everyone is different and I have gotten a great deal of pain relief from methadone and I have had no problem with an oversedation effect. It does take several days to get out of your system if you go off of it, but so do a number of other medications that are not narcotics, like coumadin (a bloodthinner). Yes, it is a controlled substance, but so is morphine, dilaudid and fentanyl, all of which are used by many to combat their CP pain. I was put on it because I am allergic to morphine. My doctors have had no problem regulating my dosages and I am usually pretty stable in my dosages. Yes, the medication is used to take addicts off of heroin, but it shouldn't be shunned as a legitamate medication for pain relief just because of that. I'm sorry it didn't work for you, but that doesn't mean it won't work for others. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
My post in regard to Methadone was an informational. I had read in some of the previous posts a question regarding this drug. Information is key in ones quest for the truth, in what is being prescribed for them. I felt it was necessary for people to realize that it is a controlled substance, and that it DOES HAVE LEGIMATE MEDICAL PURPOSES. I think you have let emotion over ride the information that I provided. Atwell LPN
