Guest guest
Ok.. here's another question. today my son's nebulizer frothed with both his albuterol and pulmozyme. we rinse with warm water daily and between ever drug and soak in soapy water weekly. took 25 minutes to get through the albuterol, and after 35 more minutes with the pulmozyme we eventually gave up cuz it was just foam. we called the pulmonologist on call who basically said.. uh ... maybe it's dirty.. maybe you put something in it... maybe you should just try again tomorrow. this was not one of the docs we'd ever seen. prick (can I say that on this list... i apologize if i can't... but after coddling doctor's egos for 6.5 years i'm pretty fed up). has anyone had this experience with a frothing nebulizer? Guest guest
Hi, I've never had this experience but I will say that from the time that was diagnosed, I was told to use different Neb sets for different meds. We were specificly told NOT to use our Albuterol/Chromolyn neb for pulmozyme or Tobi. The pulmozyme can go in the same KIND of neb set but not the SAME neb set as traces of one med can interact with the other. Maybe this is what happened? I would clean it out with hot soapy water and get a second set for one or the other (use indelible ink to mark one with " P " or something to distinguish it from the other). Use one exclusively for the Albuterol and the other only for the Pulmozyme. I was told to put Tobi in a different kind of neb set (pari). Hope I've helped. nebulizer problem Ok.. here's another question. today my son's nebulizer frothed with both his albuterol and pulmozyme. we rinse with warm water daily and between ever drug and soak in soapy water weekly. took 25 minutes to get through the albuterol, and after 35 more minutes with the pulmozyme we eventually gave up cuz it was just foam. we called the pulmonologist on call who basically said.. uh ... maybe it's dirty.. maybe you put something in it... maybe you should just try again tomorrow. this was not one of the docs we'd ever seen. prick (can I say that on this list... i apologize if i can't... but after coddling doctor's egos for 6.5 years i'm pretty fed up). has anyone had this experience with a frothing nebulizer? Guest guest
That's funny, I specifically asked if I could use the same nebulizer for both meds and the repiratory therapist said yes, but they did say not to put pulmozyme into the kind of nebulizer that we used to use for albuterol (a T). We use a pari lc jet for the pulmozyme, and now for the albuterol too. I really think it's drool... the T is an anti drool design, but the new pari lc jet seems to almost encourage drool to go right into the cup. My son drools a lot, and the last thing he needs is for every germ in his drool to be nebulized and sprayed back into his lungs. he also has been complaining of his tooth hurting during the pulmozyme... i can't tell if it's from the drug or it's just the tooth getting ready to come out. This is soooo frustrating because at this stage I'm really worried about any little thing making him sick We have a couple of T nebulizers left, we can use the T for the albuterol and the pari for the pulmozyme, and make recline a little for the pulmozyme and hopefully that will keep his drool out of the cup. hopefully. > Hi, > I've never had this experience but I will say that from the time that was diagnosed, I was told to use different Neb sets for different meds. Guest guest
I think that they tell us different things just to confuse us when we get together! I use one brand of neb for one pulmozyme and a different one for the Albuterol and Chromolyn but they are the same type of neb. I just use different brands so I can tell them apart. I only use the Pari neb for the Tobi (because that is the one that the Tobi people recommends) This is how they did it in the hospital (CHOP) so I continued it at home. (She was inpatient when she started on the Pulmozyme). I guess it could be just the drool, who knows? Maybe you can get a hold of the maker of the neb you are using and ask them? But I guess they won't be there now... If it is drool maybe reclining a bit will help (I hope so) 's never complained about her teeth in connection with the nebs but if the mist is cool when it comes out maybe he has a cavity that is sensitive to the temp? This stuff is so frustrating and it always happen on the weekend or at night when you can't get in touch with anybody! Good Luck! nebulizer problem > > > Ok.. here's another question. today my son's nebulizer frothed with > both his albuterol and pulmozyme. we rinse with warm water daily > and between ever drug and soak in soapy water weekly. took 25 > minutes to get through the albuterol, and after 35 more minutes with > the pulmozyme we eventually gave up cuz it was just foam. we called > the pulmonologist on call who basically said.. uh ... maybe it's > dirty.. maybe you put something in it... maybe you should just try > again tomorrow. this was not one of the docs we'd ever seen. prick > (can I say that on this list... i apologize if i can't... but after > coddling doctor's egos for 6.5 years i'm pretty fed up). has anyone > had this experience with a frothing nebulizer? > > >
Guest guest
Of course! the pulmozyme is refridgerated and the mist probably makes it feel even colder. my son has severe enamel loss due to malnutrition (stupid dentist has been saying for years that it's nothing to worry about). probably just the cold that is bothering his teeth. he never eats ice cream or anything cuz his teeth were always sensitive, and he has several yellow areas where the enamel never came in right. we use pari lc jet with pulmozyme cuz that's what came with it. thanks! ~steph > > Hi, > > I've never had this experience but I will say that from the time > that was diagnosed, I was told to use different Neb sets for > different meds.
