Hi to both of you,

Your posts caught my eye because I too am a MT. I know that Kaye and I have

talked before about it, but I didn't know that there was another one of us out

there.

I have a question for the two of you, are either of you on medical disability?

Was it hard to get it (if either of you work from home) as an independent

contractor?

I would appreciate any input as I saw my doctor last week and he said in the

very near future he would recommend I go on disability. I cannot work, keep up

with my housework, bills, cleaning, laundry, and two boys (4 and 6).

Let me know. We could also chat about being MT's if you would like.

Thanks. Hope you both are having a pain free day!

I am on Social Security disability since 1998. But as of July 1 of

this year, I went back to work on a " 9 month trial work period " as

defined by SS. I didn't have any problem getting it. Actually I

applied for my SSD on October 30, 1998 and had a check in the bank

for 11 months back pay on December 1, 1998. About 30 days. Seems

like we have sort of talked about the SSD thing before but I don't

mind talking about it again!

Chat with another MT who has this disease would be great! I

sometimes wonder if there is not a correlation between the sitting

all day and most MTs drink tons of coffee (I dont' anymore, I don't

drink it at all) and pancreatic cancer. Last year we had three MTs

from the company I work for die of pancreatic cancer! One of them

died 3 weeks after diagnosis! Too scary for me!

Take care and have a good one !
