Guest guest
Once the pancreas has been damamged it will NOT repair it's self.Removal the pancreas either partially or completely does not always work, I saw a surgeon in May who told me that 50% of the people have NO resolution of the symptoms and they can be worse. For me those numbers are not adequate enough to go thru such an INVOLVED surgery, I am a former nurse and my husband is a surigal nurse. Removal of the pancreas is a BIG DEAL. With pancreatitis the damage is done long before we become symptomatic. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I feel honesty is necessary. Even with successful surgery unless an islet cell transfer is done one would immediately become diabetic, which in it's self is a whole different ballgame and in it's self can cause one many many problems.
