I had my Whipple done the last week in July. I still have pains and

feel very sick to my stomach. I know part of it is that my Dr.'s wantet me to

start detox asap. The detox is doing it's thing, but I have questions for those

that have had the whipple. I am running fevers all the time. I always was a

low grade, but today I made it to 101.0. I feel nervous about this. The other

thing is that I woke up in the most powerful pancreatitc pain that I ever felt.

last night. It scared me. I took a large deep breathe, hit my PCA pump and

prayed everything would calm down. It did,but I am stuck with this fever. Has

anyone who had the whipple had these same sort of problems after having this

surgery? I want to get off all these meds and start a life, but it always seems

like there are so many obstacles that are in my way to get better.

warm regards Paget

Hi Paget,

I don't know where we have been but we must have been there together.

Beginning midafternoon on Sat. I developed a Chronic Panc. attack that was the

worst

one I have had in over a year. I got through it about 4am (that's when I had

consumed enough codeine to get ahead of the pain) The today I have developed a

high grade fever, 4 degrees + above normal. Sometimes I get about 1/2 a degree

but never one that high. While I've been trying to work with it, not much of

what I do seems to have a lasting effect. Another funny thing is no other

symptoms, no rash, throat irritation, just this persistent fever (and of course

all that goes with such a fever).

Oh well, I hope I feel better tomorrow, but it looks like another long night

ahead.

Have I mentioned that I hate this disease?

Best Wishes, Poncho - GA

PS To all of those headed for the symposium this week, I wish you all safe

and happy trips, a great fellowship time, and a wealth of shared information.

Please be careful out there.

Poncho - GA
