Guest guest
just an additional note to n's wonderful explanation: Parents of children whose income exceeds the guidelines to qualify for CCS (California Children's Services) can apply for GHPP (Genetically handicapped Person's Program). There will be an enrollment fee, based on your AGI, but it is fairly minor in comparison with a 10-20% co-pay for just one hospitalization. It also will eliminate the standard co-pays for office visits and Rx, when the parents have regular insurance. For instance, I have had Nick under GHPP since he was first diagnosed, and do not pay any co-pays for him at all because the state considers the amount my Blue Cross PPO pays above and beyond the state's allowable rates for services; hence the insurance payment is considered payment in full for everything for Nick.
