Guest guest
Hi, My daughter had my hubby's insurance and medicaid as well as SSI. We had to fight for the SSI, The MA took forever to go through then we had to fight for the money that we paid out when MA should have been paying (got some). We found out it was much easier to have on the MA as her primary because we had to jump through hoops with the other company to get her meds. mail order pharmacy that wouldn't charge her MA insurance, complaints about how many enzymes she took, another (3rd) pharmacy for her Pulmozyme and Tobi.......So, we dropped her from the private insu and life got easier. we can get everything at our neighborhood pharmacy, and I only have to fight with one insurance company when there is a problem. Medicaid Is anybody here in the US on Medicaid with private insurance? SSI?
Guest guest
I went to apply for SSI but was told that I made too much money. Medicaid says that if I don't qualify for SSI then I can't get Medicaid. I thought Medicaid was for disabilities. Did you have to jump through hoops to get approved? Guest guest
Yes, it does depend on income. At the time, I wasn't working. I have since gone back to work, since her health has gotten better. She will be ineligible for Medicaid soon. Guest guest
What state are you in? Medicaid is a state-run program. Let me know what state you live in and I will try to find the info for you. ~ > I went to apply for SSI but was told that I made too much money. Guest guest
In Idaho we have the Beckett program which esentially provides Medicaid for those with medical need without looking at financial info, but you do have to get a denial from SSI then fill out some paper work, etc. It only took us about 2 weeks to get all the info in and then once approved it went retro active for three months. We do have to re-apply every year but that is only a matter of showing recent medical records. Kris In Idaho Re: Medicaid > I went to apply for SSI but was told that I made too much money. Guest guest
I am in Georgia. My daughter 6 was turned down for SSI at the end of last year because my husband I brought home $500+/mo. too much. Our doctor immediately sent us to apply for Katy Beckett. We were so over whelmed by medical bills that we couldn't see straight. We had private insurance but it just wasn't enough. Going back and forth to doctors and hospitals 3-4 times per week and meds constantly. Then in August in the hospital. That was our breaking point. We had no problem getting the Medicaid. Within 2 weeks of our application it was in effect. It has been wonderful not having to balance the checkbook before you go pick up the meds at the drugstore. Or saying is it really necesssary for her to go to the doctor today, or can it wait 1-2 days. Life is so much better! Thank God! > We have our girls on Medicaid (idaho) and we have private insurance as well. > Kris > Medicaid > > > > Is anybody here in the US on Medicaid with private insurance?
