Guest guest
Mark, thanks for the info on the celiac plexus block. I had planned to have the block in January but when they found out I have autoimmune liver disease, they wanted me to wait. My old GI kept insisting I didn't have CP and that my pancreas was perfectly healthy. Well, in June I was put under the care of a new GI who says I absolutely have CP, in addition to the liver disease. He believes that my pain, nausea, and vomiting are caused by the CP, not the liver disease. He thinks that I could benefit from the celiac plexus block and I am definitely ready to give it a try. I have an appt with my GI on Aug 25th and the pain doc on Aug 26th. If nothing changes between now and then, I'll set up the celiac plexus block at my appt with the pain doc. I had a sympathetic nerve block (which is similiar to the celiac plexus block) back in 1995 or 1996 for reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) in my foot. One sympathetic nerve block totally cured the RSD and I have never had another problem with it. Because I had such great results from the sympathetic nerve block, I am very hopeful that I will have good results from the celiac plexus block.
