Guest guest
Hi all, I'd like to publicly thank Kimber for all the support, info and guidance she provided me over the phone last Saturday. She is one of my Angels. This is part of my story.. After 6 days in the hospital having been diagnosed with Pancreatitis, I was released a week ago Thursday. I had been pain free for 36 hours and was able to eat again. Well how short lived. I had a severe pain attack Friday afternoon and it lasted through Saturday. (I know some might roll their eyes, but this is still so new to me..) I had turned down a rx for Vicodine at the hospital, (after all I had no pain for 36 hrs and I've had trouble with addiction in the past) But as soon as that pain came back, I was on the phone to the Doc in a minute on Friday afternoon, he prescribed me Vicodine ES) Friday night, No sleep, lots of anxiety. I was scared and depressed. My spouse,(who is a lifeline), was so distraught and overwhelmed by the last week, (3kids, her job, parents with Alzheimer's) she was ready to drive me back to the er. It's Saturday, so no doctor easily available. (even when I do talk to him, I feel I've got about 3 minutes and counting... hmm what were those questions I was going to ask him????) Well, I recalled that Kimber had posted her phone numbers to me on this group. ( Did I mention what a godsend this group is??) So I went back online and found them. I waited till 9 AM and gave her a call. She was an immediate comfort. Like talking with an old acquaintance. She calmed me down and gave me strength to help me focus on the issues at hand. Her advice on: When to go to the er. How to manage the pain. DIET and diet tips.. (a huge help) How to talk with the doctor. How to calm myself and my family. What I might expect. We talked for over 45 minutes. (free nights and weekends) My every question was answered. ( " oh yah, just one more question " .. I said over and over ) Kimber, you are an inspiration and I thank you for being there for me. Your light and energy are strong and very much appreciated. Thank You. Update: The pain eased up on Saturday night. I went back to work on Monday for 4 hours, 6 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Saw the doctor on Tuesday, enzyme levels are about normal, eve Then late yesterday (Wednesday), Pete's pancreas strikes again. Excruciating Pain and violent vomiting. The vicodine can barely dent the hurt and I sure don't like eating so many of them in such a short time. (Try'n to give my liver a break) Unable to sleep all night. Called the Doctor this morning. He is arranging for me to see a doc at Cider Sinai in Los Angeles. Told me to keep to liquids and put me on " The Patch " My first experience with the Duragesic Pain Patch. So far so good. Feeling better at the moment, and it's this moment that matters. Think I'll try work again tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, C. Guest guest
, thanks. I just try and help those who are just as confused as I was when I finally got the disease. There is so much the doctors don't think about telling us. That's why this group was formed, to help others with this disease learn to live with it and avoid as much pain and depression as possible. And everyone, remember, no question is a stupid question. Someone, somewhere on this group, will probably have an answer for you. And if you need to vent, cry, rant and rave or whatever, we are here to listen and help as much as possible. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
