Guest guest
Mark, This is always a good outlet for pain management. I journal and feel that I find relief after this experience, also. I think both of these types of activities allow to 'name, claim, embrace, & let go' of at least the grip it has on our lives. Putting pen to paper transforms what is seemingly omnipotent, and makes it manageable. There is actually a National Pain Art Exhibit currently seeking submissions touring the country. Here is that information: Karyn E. , RN, Exec. Director, PAI *http://www.pancassociation.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE PAIN EXHIBIT Seeking Artists With Pain A touring museum art exhibit from artists with chronic pain with their art expressing some facet of the pain experience is being planned to open in the United States in the Fall of 2004. The exhibit is for visual arts and can include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, mixed media, and digital art. Artists with chronic pain are encouraged to submit slides (or photos, CD) of PAIN Art with a written description of what facet of the pain experience the art expresses. For example, the art might express the emotional and/or physical suffering; or art expressing overcoming pain; or maybe art about therapeutic treatment. There are endless possibilities and it is up to the artist to explain the connection between the art and their chronic pain. The deadline for art submission is May 31, 2003. Artists will be notified if their art is chosen for the exhibit by July 31, 2003. This exhibit is being planned under the aegis of the California Assembly of Local Art Agencies, a non-profit organization in San Francisco, California. Please submit the following items for consideration: 1. send slides (or photos, CD) of art; 2. title of art; 3. description of media; 4. size of art (width x length x depth); 5. explanation of what facet of pain experience the art expresses; 6. complete contact information - name, address, phone, email; 7. enclose a stamped (correct postage), self-addressed envelope for return of slides; You can submit up to five pieces. Mail everything to: Mark Collen PAIN Exhibit 9008 El Cajon Way, Suite 4 Sacramento, CA 95826 If you have questions please email me at mrc823@... or call me at .
