Guest guest
Did anyone ever tell you to look for pulling at the center of the collar bone? (right in that v shaped spot) If the skin seems to be being sucked in and out with breathing it means that they are working too hard breathe. If you notice it you should probably let your CF center know. clear. . . good? > > Christal mom of Tristan 6ncf, Zack 2wcf & asthma, Ki'a 4mthsncf
Guest guest
The good thing about school nurses is that they do have a degree, whether it is an LPN or RN so they generally know what to listen for. However- like you said clear lungs don't always mean ok lungs. From experience when my son was still and infant he sounded clear a lot until they did chest x-ray then they would show stuff, as they did when we got diagnosed 4 weeks ago (wow-it has been a month already it feels like we have always dealt with this). Then there were times when he sounded rough but looked ok. I tend to listen to his chest when I think he is getting congested and after a while you know what sounds normal and not for your child. But I also went to RN school (no I am not a nurse, I didn't finish it) and I can tell you there is a definate difference in clear lungs and gunky (as I like to call them)lungs. Sometimes when Zack is real bad I can actually feel him wheezing that is when i gets scarey. > > > Date: 2003/03/19 Wed AM 11:33:59 EST > To: cfparents > Subject: clear. . . good? > > Christal mom of Tristan 6ncf, Zack 2wcf & asthma, Ki'a 4mthsncf
Guest guest
Also watch for nostrils flaring as a sign of distress. Our school nurse said that my children's lungs sound " different " ....especially my oldest. Rosemary from New York with 3 children with CF - they are 12.5, 10, 6...... I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT " ; we have a dog we named -are you ready for this - TOBI after their medication!!! At least it wasn't albuterol or Coly...
