Guest guest
Hi all, I have a question. I have left my old internist because she would not cooperate with any of my specialists about my problem. I had been on Vicodin for 2 1/2 years (we all know about the intolerance and not working after so long), but she refused to give me anything else. She didn't think I needed it. At the end of June, I ended up in the ER after trying to battle an 8 day attack by myself and just couldn't do it anymore. Anyway, the ER doc (who was wonderful and knew all about CP) called her and told her I needed to be switched from Hydrocodone to Percocet for breakthrough. Also, she had a letter from Dr. Fogel (a speaker at the Symposium) and also from my GI doc here in town that my symptoms would dictate further pain medications, etc. By the time the ER doc talked to her and I got home her nurse had called my home. I get home and my mom (who was watching my kids) said that her office had called. I thought, " great, she is going to help me now with my pain meds. " No such luck. Her nurse said to me, " Dr. wants you to see a pain specialists to " get control of your pain. " I was furious. Anyway, she still refused to do what 3 doctors (specialists) recommended to her. I then left her practice. I got copies of all my records and she has things so wrong. She has me quoted as telling the ER doc that I had never heard of Percocet!!!!!!!!!! For one thing, I am a medical transcriptionist for 14 years and, of course, I have heard of it. Also, I had been asking her to switch me to this!!!!! Also, I had some lab work done that showed elevated amylase and lipase and she never informed me of this. The icing on the cake is that she called my pharmacy and told them to discontinue any pain med scripts that had been called in by my GI doc and only she was to give me pain meds!!!!!!!!!!!! How can she do this if she wasn't the doc who prescribed them. She had referred me back to my GI specialist because I went through a 2 week cycle and I called her and she said " I can't keep increasing your Hydrocodone! " He then prescribed something else for me and her nurse called me and chewed me out about it. I explained that Dr. had referred me back to the GI doc and if he thought I should have something else, of course, he was going to prescribe it, but I knew he was sending her a letter and I was going to call her office for further refills. Also, the day after I left her practice she called Dr. Fogel's office (I haven't seen him since January) and also told them not to give me pain meds!!!!!!!!! Anyway, with the new HIPPA act or any other act, does anyone think I have something against her for whatever, negligence, etc. etc. Please help and advise me. I am going on vacation Saturday. If anyone can answer before I go, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll check when I get back. Please say a prayer that I don't have an attack while in California with my husband and NO KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, T. (ohio)
