Guest guest
Dear , My first reaction was to say that I didn't think it would hurt to take the Aciphex with Pancrease, which is the generic name of Pancrelipase, since the enzymes are just amylase, protease and lipase components as would be produced by your pancreas (if it were working correctly). BUT, I decided to research this further before making a statement I wasn't perfectly sure about, so I did some searching with my favorite pharmaceutical website: http://www.rxlist.com/ This was the statement found under the Pancrease listing: DRUG INTERACTIONS Antacids containing calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide should not be taken concurrently with pancrelipase. The combination of calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide with pancrelipase may precipitate glycine-conjugated bile acids and may form calcium and magnesium fatty acid soaps, causing a decrease in fat absorption and thus an increase in steatorrhea. Found on the Aciphex listing were it's ingredients. Magnesium stearate and magnesium oxide were two of the listed ingredients, but not magnesium hydroxide. Not being a chemist, I don't know exactly what these components are or how they differ. You may wish to research this further to find a clear answer. I know several of us do take antiacids in addition to our pancreatic enzymes. Though many of us take different antiacids, like Prilosec or Prevacid or others, and different pancreatic enzymes, such as Viokase, Ultrase or Creon. I am curious now myself about this in relation to what I'm taking and plan to investigate it further. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SE & SW Regional Rep PAI, Intl.
