Guest guest
If I could ask the parents and adults with cf, what kinda chores do you think is all right for a child of 11 (yes, Christian). What would be definite no nos and what would be okay? I feel sometime that I have turned him into a lazy lout over the past couple days as he doesn't even want to bend over to turn his neb on. All my fault I know but what guidelines should I follow? Thank you in advance. Tina Mom to Christian 11 yowcf and 19 yowocf
Guest guest
Cody isn't as old as Christian yet, but I often feel the same way. I myself have a tendency to do " too much " for him. Guess it doesn't help that he is a bullheaded, strong-willed, mouthy, stubborn little mule! LOL With him it is often easier to just do it ourselves. BUT, I have been getting a lot tougher on him. It's not fair that when they clean their room, big brother cleans up 95% in the time it takes the Bug to clean the other 5%! And bitching about it the whole time, too, I might add! LOL LOL You'd think I'd just asked him to clean the WHOLE house, top to bottom, including scrubbing the walls, by sundown--and sundown happens to be 15 minutes away! LOL But, as I see you already have one that is 19, and I personally feel he should have to pull the same weight as his sib did at the same age. The only chore I won't now or ever let Cody do is clean the cat litter boxes. Well, I can't say ever, as if he decides to have his own cats when he grows up, he'll have to do it--I'm not going over there!! LOL Good luck! Guest guest
Tina, My boys are 11 & 12. They have a few chores. The have to keep their room clean (I help them once in awhile). We have a few dogs & cats (outside) they feed them . Other than that I do most everything else. I figure they have enough to do with meds, etc.... I know I probably am not helping them much, but all in all they are pretty responsible. Vondie
Guest guest
In figuring out chores, we count doing meds and therapy and washing medical equipment as chores. The other sibs are aware that those things are time consuming and are accounted for as being among the chores for the sib with CF. I get up and prepare a neb in the morning so my teen can sleep longer but he is responsible at night for making sure there is clean, dry equipment and meds beside his bed ready for the morning. Guest guest
Wow! That's a doozy. But I think an 11 year old is pretty capable of doing just about anything (except cooking, because of the dangers). I also steer away from anything involving heavy chemicals because of their breathing problems. Hope this helps! of MD mom of Sam 14 w/cf, Matty 10 and bobby 7 w/no cf Quoting TBug1964@...: > If I could ask the parents and adults with cf, what kinda chores do you think > > is all right for a child of 11 (yes, Christian).
