Guest guest
Today we put together 's IEP plan, for all those who don't know, I went through the state of Florida Early Education program to accomplish this. It was quite easy. We first had a screening, to which they see if your child is eligible, then comes the evaluation. 's evaluation went well, His development is where it needs to be, but his adaptive and social skills are at a two and half year olds level. We knew had social issues because he has been diagnosed with having adhd, It hasn't been confirmed yet by the behaviorist, but we see him tomorrow, so we will see. We went and met his new teacher at his school and she mentioned it could be sensory awareness something? So I have no idea. Today, I went to the staffing, which is the last step in the process, Its where you go over all the results and create the iep plan. His IEP plan doesn't include his everyday needs pertaining to cf, I asked about the 504 plan but was told it wasn't really necessary, do to the iep plan which mentions cf, but doesn't really address the medical need. I told them its one thing to verbalize ones needs and another to actually see it on paper. I would feel better knowing that it is documented. I have already put together and listed what I would like to see on the 504, I just need to have it typed, my ink is out so I have to go to the library. Well, anyway I registered at his new school today, so he starts on Wednesday, About the adhd, these are the things we deal with everyday, even in the evaluation, some of this was picked up on. Interrupts constantly in conversation, to even where he deliberately brings attention to himself. 2) impatient, cannot wait his turn 3) impulsive, he literally runs amuck, he has scared us to death by running in the parking lot. 4) cannot play by himself 5) cannot stay interested in anything unless you keep him occupied with different things one right after the other. 6) cannot play quietly 7) cannot sit still, constantly on the go, he's like the energizer bunny. 8) wont sleep, were talking 12:30 1 am in the morning and he still going strong, we are working on this as I speak. 9) cannot deal with loud noises or crowds, he tends to be overstimulated.10) non stop talking, repeats things over and over, even when he has been answered. 11) easily distracted, easily frustrated 12) runs, jumps carries on where its not allowed, like the library, we were actually asked to leave because was so disruptive. There is more of this but you get the idea, we took him to the pediatrician and within five minutes the doctor said adhd and then referred us to the behaviorist. To all those parents of children with adhd, are these symptoms of adhd? and how is adhd addressed? Have your kids been to a behaviorist for it, Well thanks to all who respond, I really really appreciate it. , mommy of 5 yrs old next month w/cf and possible adhd and 20 months old no/cf. You can be detailed or generalized. It depends on the needs of your child. In s case I have on the IEP...extended time for eating, eating and drinking during the day and unlimited usage of the bathroom. She has downs too so I have very close contact with her teachers and they have honored all of my requests whether they are on the IEP or not. Good luck. - Sally - Mom of : Bri--14--JV cheerleader --12--w/asthma --9--w/cf & ds
