Guest guest
Sandi, Birth control pills have been found to be possible causes for pancreatitis. Estrogen, too. Some of us have to take it though, to maintain proper hormonal balance. I stopped taking the prescription HRT Premarin several years ago when I was in my last years of early menopause. It was mainly in protest for cruelty to animals, in this regard, the thousands of mares in confinement that are used to produce this drug. Since then I've been taking a natural soy-based OTC supplement called " Estoven " that works just as well, for me. I just had a hormone test done a couple of weeks ago and fall within the right numbers, so it seems to be doing it's job. BTW, I started taking this several years before my CP developed, but as I said, I was on Premarin for about 5 years first. C-an't h-elp you with th-e h--ic--h--ic--ups! <grin> I very seldom have a problem with them. Of course as soon as I say this it will be my turn. They're horrible to deal with and when I've had them none of the usual tricks ever worked. I've heard that, too, about the oral metrodiazonole connection with pancreatitis. About that " suspected " heartburn vs. pancreatitis pain. I find the Zantac does nothing to stop the pain. If it were heartburn, it would go away, right? You might suggest that an upper endoscopy be done to eliminate that as any kind of cause. Unless the doctors have done an EGD and it showed a significant hiatial hernia, they really shouldn't assume it's heartburn. Next idea will be IBS......Sometimes doctor's are so slow to look further and seem to want it to be something that can be fixed by taking a pill. All I can say is to keep pushing, or find another doctor that will check more thoroughly. You didn't say what kind of tests have been done to determine what's wrong, so without knowing a little more about your history, I can't really comment further. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Do many of you suffer with recurring hiccups? How do you all differientiate between the pain of pancreatitis attack and possibly severe heartburn?
