Guest guest
Dear Maggie, Pasted below is a listing of the ingredients of the supplement Peptamen, which I was speaking of in my earlier post. While it is not totally lactose-free, 375 ml. only has 150 mg. of lactose. As you can see by the list, it contains many other valuable vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients in a pre-digested form. This product is most often used by people with malabsorption, and is often put into tube feedings for patients in the hospital. Peptamen ingredients: Water, maltodextrins, whey peptides, medium chain triglycerides, corn starch, soya oil, emulsifier: soya lecithin, thickener: guar gum, calcium citrate, stabiliser: monopotassium phosphate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, antioxidant: sodium ascorbate, vitamins (C, E, niacin, pantothenic acid, B6, beta carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, A, folic acid, K, biotin, D, B12), magnesium oxide, choline chloride, L-carnitine, taurine, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, manganese sulphate, copper sulphate, sodium fluoride, sodium molybdate, chromium chloride, potassium iodide, sodium selenite, acidity regulator: potassium hydroxide Another product that the nutritionist at the hospital put me on to put on weight was a juice type supplement called Resource. This fat free fruit beverage has 250 calories and is loaded with all the essential vitamins and minerals. The only reason I stopped taking it was because of my diagnosis of diabetes a few weeks later, since it is loaded sky-high in carbs. I was able to find both of these products at a pharmacy that specializes in hospital supplies and medical products. I hope these suggestions are of some help. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
