Guest guest
Maggie, about diet. You probably need to stick to a low fat diet like most of us, the exact amount varies a little per person, but the average seems to be about 20 grams a day, with only 6 grams per meal. Also, avoid alcohol at all costs as it will immediately flare up the pancreas. Even in cooking. And you can still have the disease without having constant pain. I've been fighting this disease since I was 16, I'm 33 now and I didn't start to have constant pain until two years ago or so. The exact amount of time before you have constant pain varies greatly per person. Some people have had constant pain since their first pancreatic attack, others like me, haven't gotten the daily pain for many years. The fatigue, unfortunately, is part of the disease, and so is the diarrhea. Most of us take enzymes of one sort or another. I used to take Cotazym as well, but I am now taking Viokase 8 as Cotazym was discontinued where I live. The enzymes worked fine, but for some reason the manufacture decided not to supply this area with it anymore, so I had to change. I hope this has been of some help to you.
