Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I wanted to let you all know what has been going on with me. I had my appt. with Dr. Sutherland at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday, April 29th. He seems like one teriffic doctor!!! My husband, Duane and my mother, Nancie went with me to my appt. Dr. Sutherland sat and talked with us for about 1 1/2 hours. Dr. Sutherland said I definately have chronic pancreatitis and that eventually I will have either part or all of my pancreas removed, but we need to address a few other things first. On May 7th, I am scheduled to see the dietian at my home clinic to find out about and get a low carb., low fat, high protein diet. On May 13th, I am scheduled to see Dr. Lake at the University of Minnesota. He will do my ERCP (I'm not sure when). On May 27th, I am scheduled to see my family doctor, as he is going to handle my pain meds. until I can get into the pain clinic. On June 10th, I am scheduled to see Dr. Sutherland again, to go over what was done with Dr. Lake. On July 16th, I am scheduled to see Dr. Buchwald at the University of Minnesota as I need to have part of my stomach removed. I need to have this done and get healed up before I have the pancrectomy. Today I had an appt. with my family doctor. He said that Dr. Sutherland had called him and discussed my treatment. He also changed my pain meds. I was on Demerol 100mg every 4 hours, but it didn't do much to help the pain, so today he changed it to oxycontin. However, my appt. was late and so the drug store was closed, so I can't get my prescription filled until morning. Also, he prescribed Benedryl, as I am allergic to histimean, which is in all pain meds. So, it looks like my summer will be full of Dr. appts., surgeries, my vegetable garden and the family reunion that we are hosting for my husbands side of the family.... I hope everyone of you is having either a pain free or reduced pain day, in Minnesota
