Guest guest
Hi Tameasa, I just came on board today and immediately ran a search for hypertriglyceridemia and your notice came up. I have been diagnosed (actually suffered much longer) with Type IV (Familial) Hypertriglyceridemia for around twenty years. My first accurately diagnosed bout of pancreatitis occurred at same time which resulted in the the bloodwork that indicated what was causing me so much pain. Before that it had been called everything from too much gas to appendicitis. I was in nursing school when I was first diagnosed. I have a very off the chart case.... my lipid levels are often unmeasurable when they are out of control. I am an RN and, while there is no perfection to this disease, I HAVE been able to get pretty good at staying out of the hospital when I am allowed to take good care of myself. I do have Type II Diabetes (the kind that does not require insulin) now and several other chronic health problems that all tie in... I am currently trying to retire as a nurse and be approved for social security disability. I can either spend most of my time maintaining my health or slowly die taking care of other peoples health to the detriment of mine. I feel like I've done my bit for everyone else and I am to the point now where I have to live at least long enough to meet my grandchildren. I've cared for and buried a younger sister and a younger brother who ultimately died of complications of diabetes. My point is that I have lived on BOTH sides of the fence for over twenty years. I can speak both languages- and even I still have a very hard time getting through to many of our so called health care providers. If I can be of any help to you in any way, please do not hesitate to email me. I am online often. I have been hospitalized for this problem and it's complications probably 7-8 times over the years and should have been many other times. I have worked out some good ways to maintain though and have learned many things by way of my nursing training and trial and error as well. Much has to do with nutrition (as well as knowing the reasonable limits of how much nutrition can help) and exercise. Get in touch- Lawrence Beebe, RN alwaysgoldenrule@...
