Guest guest
Dear Robin I can relate to what you are saying it is at times overwhelming. The only way I have found to get through the bad days is to take one day at a time. I find if I dwell on the future of years of the same pain ect. it really wears me down. I try always to focus on what is good in my life. You cant change the fact that you have this disease it isnt going away any time soon in fact in my case its chronic so its here for good. I dont think any one in Canada is even doing the pancreas surgery to remove the pancreas and transfer the islets to the liver. Hang in there some days are better than others. from Canada
Guest guest
Hi: I have been reading and posting some messages over the past couple of months. It helps so much sometimes to listen to everyone's struggles and how they are dealing with things. Most of the time I am able to keep a positive attitude. But sometimes everything becomes overwhelming, like this weekend. More and more I am having a hard time finding good reasons to get out of bed. I knew I had been feeling like this, and last week tried to find a counseler or psychiatrist to talk to, or perhaps get on some type of medication. I either couldn't get an appointment for 5 months, or 4 weeks, or any answer at all. Finally, one doctor's office said I had to fill out all these forms, fax them back, have an evaluation and then they would schedule me for an appointment. I know you all understand how sometimes living with cp can become overwhelming. Lately more than ever people have said, I thought you were better! When did I even come close to saying that? Anyway, I'm reaching out for support. I've done nothing but sleep and cry this whole weekend. I was supposed to walk in the March of Dimes and couldn't make it. One of those no energy days. I was part of team, and I let them down. I'd love to go to the chat room if anyone reads this soon, post a message and I'll meet there. Some good conversation, with someone who understands might be just what I need. Thanks and I'm wishing good days to everyone who reads this. My total memory fails me but I think it was a teaching hospital in Calgary. It was still considered experimental. Maybe Shirley in Cinn. OH would remember the details. Maybe a very specialized Internet search would turn up something. Try this site, it's buried info but still info http://www.therasense.ca/diabetes_news/news_070102b.asp And it's Edmonton not Calgary And this site http://www.med.ualberta.ca/islet/edu/pdf/CH03_Transplant_Procedure.pdf And this one http://www.afdr.ab.ca/news/Dec2002.htm All this was obtained with a search using Google.com and the key words pancreas and Canada Best wishes, Poncho - GA
