,

I work in a medical clinic and after Eilish was born at dx at 3 weeks I

couldn't bare to return to work for around 8-9 months. Not because she

was ill but because I couldn't trust myself to not jump the counter and

strangle some idiot complaining about a stubbed toe etc. Even today I

don't have any sympathy for trivial illnesses. I know each families

illness is a drama for them, but geez these people don't know they are

living. I have another mother at my children's school, who to listen to

you would think her child was desperately ill. He has some sinus

issues, BIG DEAL!!. She didn't have any more children because he was a

crying child with sore ears. Yes true. I just totally ignore her when

she starts, and most of the parents their think she's a drama queen. I

think we have so much serious stuff to deal with that other peoples

aches and pains pale into nothing. Although when Liam gets ill I am

even more worried than with Eilish. Mainly because I don't expect him

to be ill. He's the healthy child. Luckily he is pretty healthy.

Do any of you sometimes find yourself not giving as much attention as

you should to other peoples' illnesses as you do for your cfer?

I also tend to think others are being silly when they complain about a trivial

problem with their children. I also seem to get more upset if something is

slightly wrong with , because as said, he is suppose to be the

healthy one. Maybe that is how families without an ill child feel. Without a

reference point such as a child with CF, they probably worry about all their

children the way we do with our children without CF.

What is really hard for me is when a friend has a child who is sicker and/or

with more problems than CF. A friend of mine has a four-year-old daughter with

lymphoma and they are basically going to be in the hospital for the next six

months so the little girl can get all kids of chemotherapy. She has two other

children at home that she can hardly ever see because the hospital is five hours

away. I guess having a child with CF at least gives us the ability to

understand a little bit about what that mom is going through.

Sorry to ramble on.... it is so nice to have all of you to ramble too though.
