Debbie,

Welcome to the PAI. We have some pancreatitis diet tips and

cooking tips in the files section on the left of the PAI website

screen. If you open the files and go to " Nutrition " , you'll find this

information.

One online site I use frequently for recipes is CookingLight.com

This site is great in that it lists the nutritional content of each

recipe, so you can immediately determine if the recipe falls

within your nutritional needs. It also has a reader's comments

feature that is helpful, sometimes giving great tips on ways to

alter the recipe to make it even better.

I still have my gallbladder, too. It looks good in all the imaging

studies they've done on me and doesn't cause me any pain, all

my pain is left sided, so I'm satisfied to leave it be! I'm sorry that

your pain is increasing, this usually happens as the chronic

pancreatitis progresses. If it worsens, you may need to consult

your doctor about alternate pain medication, but feel blessed that

now you can handle it so well on your own.

Please keep in touch if we can help you with any other

information or if you just want to talk, we're here and listening.

With hope and prayers,

Heidi

> Can anyone recommend good site for lowfat recipes. I was

thinking perhaps if I could learn vegertarian cooking with tofu or

something. I am willing to try anything to keep from making my

pancreas mad.

I am 36 yrs old and have had pain since I was 7 years old so I

> naturaly stayed away from high fat foods...never could eat

pizza..at least now I know why. I was referred to IU summer

2001 and they found through ERCP that my spincter of oddi

pressure wad too great so they snipped it to loosen it (don't

know medical term). They also did something minor to one of

the ducts. I only had a temporary stent that they took out in a

week when I got home.

I seemed to do great for 6 months but the recurrent episodes are

back. Seems like each week it is uncomfortable. I have only had

3 hospital stays for a week each since the surgery. Luckily, two

pain pills make it mild enough I can handle pain at home.

Heidi and Debbie,

I found this notice on the cookinglight.com website. Very disappointing!

As of April 29, 2003, CookingLight.com will be

available only to our

magazine customers and

AOL members.
