Guest guest
I've about had it with my child's school! Tomorrow (Friday) they are taking the kids on a walk down to the post office. If it holds true, the weather is partly sunny and will get up to 34 degrees. Mind you, we have ice on the sidewalks and the post office is about 3 football fields away. I asked if he could stay back at school and they told me no. The people in the office had their own work to do. If I don't send him then it will be an illegal absence. I have only allowed my kids out in the snow one time this winter and I was there with them, they aren't allowed out without me. The morning low should be 17 degrees. Will it warm up while they are walking? NO, won't warm up till afternoon. What would you do? Should I allow him to go? If I didn't have a job then I could take him there in the car but I do have a job.....I'm baby-sitting 2 boys age 2 and 3. I'm so angry that I just want to spite them. They don't understand......All the things I wanted in a 504 plan they had reasons why I shouldn't......Not being outside when it's too cold was one of them. They don't, supposedly, let the kids go outside for recess if it's 32 or below. I did see kids out though last week. Now in PA we just set a record with 19 days in a row with temps not getting above 32. It's been DOWNRIGHT freezing and a lot of others know what I'm talking about. Give it up already LISA!!!!!! I wanted to rant and rave and I have. What is your input? from PA who is very grateful I have you guys to turn to

Guest guest
Why shouldn't a person with CF be outside when it is " too cold? Guest guest
This is probably too late but I would call the prinicipal (they are your PAL) and question her/him. If school policy is no outside at recess on 32 and below days it should applicable to field trips involving walking, especially when you have a 504. Good luck..............keep growling... Rosemary from New York with 3 children with CF - they are 12.5, 10, 6...... I coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT " ; we have a dog we named -are you ready for this - TOBI after their medication!!! At least it wasn't albuterol or Coly...
Guest guest
Hi .....I have kept home on a number of occasions due to weather or when they visit the nursing homes and all those bugs lurking. I don't care if its an illegal absence or not. They have also let stay at school with the teaching assistant or another teacher. there is always a choice.
