Hi Colleen, this happened to us too but it was summer and we have a well,

there was no water and the toilets didn't work. We had about 50 people. I

told the boys to go in the woods and we used bottled water for the girls.

LOL it was fun

Sorry about your Dad, keep the faith.

Hey there! Well, it finally happened. Elyse has a nasty cough and

I do not like it!!! She woke up Monday morning coughing, started to

cry and said, " No more cough Mommy " . Poor thing. Thanks goodness

we had a clinic appointment yesterday. She has also been battling a

runny nose off and on since the beginning of the month. Plus she

has the beginnings of an ear infection. So, her doctor prescribed

Augementin. Her lungs were clear and her weight and height were

both up. Her nutritionist was a little concerned because she is not

staying on her growth curve. So, we talked about ways to fatten her

up a bit. She also had to have a throat culture, blood draw and an

x-ray. Elyse was not happy. I was planning on taking her to the

pediatrician for her well-baby check-up, but her doctor has a heart

attack, so he is out of commission for six weeks. Of course, he has

someone to cover his patients, but hopefully Elyse will bounce back

and we won't have to go see him. Unfortunately, my dad is also

really ill. He has been in the hospital since January 3. He went

for a stress test and the doctor admitted him. His cardiologist has

determined that he needs a transplant, and will not be leaving the

hospital without one. So, he now lives at the University of Chicago

Hospital. We have known that the transplant was a probability, but

we did not expect it so happen so soon. On a lighter note, Elyse

had her birthday party. We had about 30 people at the house for

lunch and cake. Everything was going fine until then the power went

out. Mind you, it was about 20 degrees outside. A lot can be said

for body heat and a 350-degree oven. Actually, it wasn't a big

deal, but it is definitely something to laugh about. I have decided

that next year we are going out for her party. It will cost about

the same, but I do not have to clean up and stress out. Well,

that's about it. I hope that this month is not an indicator of how

the rest of my 2003 is going to be!!

Hugs,

Colleen
