,

I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I can tell you stress for me is

a major factor in having an attack for me. I have been having an attack

for the last month which I spent three days in the hospital in ND for

but right now I am being stubborn because one of my brothers is in

Bagahad and we have his two children and my mom is also sick and we are

helping my other brother with his 7 month old so I don't want to leave

her alone taking care of 3 kids. I am trying to just stick it out but

sometimes it is hard. I know there are other people on this list that

can tell you stress can cause an attack. I also know that there are

some moms on here that have children that have pancreatitis also.

is one of them. Her daughter I think just turn 13. I am also

overweight even though I have this disease. I have lost some weight but

most of the time I have but it back on. In the past year I have lost 50

pounds but have put back on 15 or 16. This list has been helpful to me

even though I have been quiet lately. We know how you and your daughter

feel and welcome to the list.

My name is and my daughter Irma, age 16, has chronic pancreatitis

since age 9 years. She has a rare genetic disorder called WAGR Syndrome as

well. This is chromosome deletion 11p11.2 thru 11p13...

I'd like to mention she is overweight. I've seen her go without

eating for long periods of time and not lose an oz. No one can

explain this to me. I have a question about stress.

Does anyone find that stress can trigger their pancreatitis? This maybe a silly

question but my daughter seems to get worse during times of extreme stress.

Not many people understand this disease. I find myself explaining it over and

over to no avail. Its nice to know you all understand it. Thanks for letting me

share.

My Cassie will be 13 next month she too has CP - hers is SPINK1 n34s mutation

on chromosome 5. She it also overweight and does not lose when she goes

without eating - all they tell us is at least she isn't losing...it's a good

thing.

Stress seems to play a big part in Cassie's attacks... it's not the daily

family stresses.. my family is wacko..it's the outside stresses such as

school and social pressures that set her off. We now have a verbal, deal

going ,a little code, no matter where she is or what time it is or what we

are doing she calls and says her gallblader hurts and one of us is off to

remove her from the situation. Dr's love the idea psycologist hate it. say

we are not teaching her how to deal with life. I say bull crap we are not

going to set her up for an attack.

There is an interesting article on stress and the effects on the body in May

Womans Day magizine. I'm not sure but you may be able to access on line.

though none of her Dr will admitt the connection, they say anything is

possible. They stress is still mysterious to medicine as pancreatitis.

I too, understand the explaining over and over again to no avail, even to

family, they all seem to think that she'll wake up tomorrow and be better,

yet tomorrow never comes. Also since I am the carrier of SPINK1 all of my

siblings and both parents have a 50% chance of carring the mutation, yet they

believe they could possible be carriers even though some have illnesses that

could be related.
