Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I too have slowly gained weight over the past few years. When I present this concern to my GI he tells me that I shouldn't worry because he knows that I will drop that weight a few times a year, the hard way, if you get my drift. It's about 30lbs that comes and goes. I believe alot has to do with insulin production (or lack of) and a sedentary life style I have had to adopt. Unlike you, I can no longer exercise. The fact that you can still do a sit up amazes me. Do you suffer from abdominal distention also? I do, there are days I look 4 months pregnant and days I look slim. To be fair though, I do have a Synchromed pump implanted in my abdomin for medication distribution. But the mirror doesn't lie. I've come to the point where I don't care about my weight anymore. I just hope for a day without tooooo much pain and other symptoms. Keep up that strong drive you have but don't forget about balance. It's amazing how good we can look in pair of overalls. Comfort is the key. Good luck to you.
Guest guest
Hi , I do suffer from my belly getting bloated alot. Sometimes it is like I am pregnant. It gets really bad. I haven't done the sit ups in months. It did cause pain in the beginning, just like the power walking I do, but I just kept my goal in mind and blew right through that pain. When I didn't have a pancreatic attack that night, I did it all again the next day. I will say that the pain in the beginning was bad, but the more I did, the less pain I felt and I liked that. So I continue on today. I didn't gain an ounce until I went on protonix for 1 week. Then i gained 4 pounds. I went off that immeadiatly and started prilosec in March. The specialist says that everyone with CP is on a acid suppresor. I don't see the need for one myself. Heidi brought to my attention that prilosec has a side effect of gaining weight. She also discovered for me that in rare instances Pancreatitis (some fatal) occur! Guess what?! I'm off that as of this morning. I will see if this makes a difference or not. I know I should just be happy with myself, but I want to be slim again like I used to be. I gained nearly 100 pounds when I got pregnant 12 years ago and have lost 60 of it. I thought from avid excersizing, but know now it was the beginning of Pancreatitis. I want to know if anyone has taken diet pills with CP but so far I haven't heard, so I am assumming thats a big fat NO! I have no intention of giving myself a pancreatic attack because of my weight and pain pills, so I suppose I will give up on that idea for now. Thanks for answering.
