Hi!

My GI told me that loose bowels will always be a potential problem

with pancreatitis but a low fat diet is supposed to lessen these

occurances. I continue to take enzymes and haven't found that they

effect the diahhrea. For me, it's the food. But since I don't eat a

lot, I don't have this problem unless I am very acute. My GI

explained to me that the enzymes are to help keep the

pancreas " asleep " by doing part of it's job. I was also told that I

can take anywhere from 3 to 9 capsules. The more I take does not

affect my pain level (even tho this is the case for some).

Please watch for dehydration if you have diahhrea. This has become a

big concern for me at the stage of pancreatitis I am in. I have gone

to the emergency room to get rehydrated (I.V.s), a shot to curb the

vomiting (which rarely works for me anymore) and a shot to stop the

diahhrea. Then they let me go home. I think I am lucky to have an

ER that allows me enormous control over my treatment (as does my

doctor). When you reach a point, that all avenues of treatment or

assistance have been explored and there is nothing more they can do

for you except help with symptoms the best they can, I think you

actually have more say in your treatments.

I was curious, do you suffer a lot of abdominal distention? I do.

Good luck, feel better real soon.
