Guest guest
Dear all, I am new to this group as my husband, , was diagnosed on 3/30/03 with pancreatitis but not sure if it is acute or chronic as he never had any problems before his attack. He was on holiday in the UK visitng his sister and he was rushed to the hospital with what presented as a diabetic coma. They soon realized that he had multiple organ failure (kidneys, lungs, liver and pancreatitis). He is still in the ICU on ventialtor, ocassional dialaysis (to help his struggling kidneys get rid of the keytones (sp?), potassium and other toxins that it is having a hard time releasing). I am over here in the UK but have to go back to the states on 4/25/03 as I have to get back to work since I am the only one that is working and will be working for a while. He has had numerous CT scans to make sure that all the other organs are getting better and they are except of course for his pancreas and kidneys. He also has had a high fever (he presented with an almost 106 degree fever that was not brought down for almost 72 hours) and continues to be around 99.5 to 101.5 and flucuates almost hourly. He is having tremendous sweatting fits and has moments of lucidity to recognize me and his sister. He also has over the last few days had a very distended belly where the rest of him is starting to shrink. It is very hard to see this as this is the first illness that we have endured together (just got married November 9, 2002). If anyone out there has had similar situations, I would so much appreciate your input and advice as a support since I really don't know anyone who has had this disease or is a partner of someone who has. Thank you so much for your time. Warmest regards, Knapp-Sheppard
Guest guest
Dear , Just wanted to say that I have added you and to my prayer list. I too am new with this pancreatitis stuff, but my belly has a tendency to distend also. Usually it happens to me right before or right after I go potty. I don't know if it is related to pancreatitis but I am guessing that it is. Congratulations on your recent marriage and once again, you are on my prayer list.
