Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis Overview

My doctor suggested I do some more research on pseudocysts.

He remarked that there were new articles published and new

information every day.....thanks to the internet. And I hadn't

updated my pancreatitis folder in a few months because I wasn't

feeling well, so it seemed like a good idea to do so. Of particular

concern to him, and to me, was that these psuedocysts may

rupture, especially now that they're so much larger than before.

He wanted me to be extra wary of the warning signs.

I stumbled across a new article on pancreatitis that I hadn't seen

before in my research, which I've added to my pancreatitis folder.

I thought I'd pass on the website for this article to all of you

because it's one of the most comprehensive overviews I've seen.

For those of you who want some good facts to take to a less

experienced doctor, an article like this would be a

comprehensive eye opener.

Of particular interest was the comments made in the Diagnosis

portion where it clearly states: " Diagnosis of pancreatitis can be

made very early in the disease by noting high levels of pancreatic

enzymes circulating in the blood (amylase and lipase). Later in

the disease, and in chronic pancreatitis, these enzyme levels will

no longer be elevated " and so on and so forth. Now we know

that, but plenty of ER personnel don't know that.....so maybe we

should have this tatooed on our abdomen's with the references

included!

I won't go into any more detail, but I think you'll see that the

overview is a thorough one and this should be of interest to you

all.

Here's the url, it's too long an article for me to print here, so I

urge you to take a look at it:
