Guest guest Posted January 26, 2003 Report Share Posted January 26, 2003 I'm sorry but I have to ask this......Kristy's diagnosis with cf was a long and very frustrating journey! I'm not going into great detail again, suffice to say after a Nasal Potential Difference test she was confirmed as suffering a mild (low grade) form of Cf with no digestive involvement. We have all accepted this, the treatment is working well and Kristy has been antibiotic free since Mid September last year. So why do SOME medical ppl still ask me " Do you really think she has cf " ? They also ask in front of Kristy.....I am not talking about the Chest specialists here, one was a gastro doctor and the other was someone who does the lung function tests. I'm sorry but it made me mad after all we've been through. Should I discuss it with her chest specialist who told us long before the NPD test, Kristy's probs were consistent with cf and treated her as such. Twice in Kristy's life we'd been told she definitely did not have cf, then to be informed she did early last year. Then a gastro doctor expressed doubt and Kristy was confused - I told her then the chest specialists had confirmed it! Needless to say it was frustrating to have it raised again just last week by the lung function technician...I guess I'm tired of feeling the need to justify it and angry Kristy faced unnecessary confusion, we've experienced enough of that. I also have a friend who can't believe she has it, because she's not *sick* enough (based on another child she knows who has it).
