Guest guest
WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS. EILISH STARTS SCHOOL IN A WEEK FOR THIS YEAR. THERE WILL BE ABOUT 20 NEW KIDS IN HER CLASS (as all the others have moved on). I WOULD LIKE TO ACTUALLY HAVE A NOTE OR SOMETHING TO PRINT OUT TO GIVE TO HER TEACHER TO GIVE OUT TO THE PARENTS JUST EXPLAINING CF AND HOW NOT TO SEND A ILL CHILD TO SCHOOL. LAST YEAR IT WORKED WELL JUST TALKING TO THEM,BUT THEN EILISH WAS A NEW CHILD SO ALL THE KIDS GOT TO KNOW HER. THIS YEAR ALL THE OTHER PARENTS WILL BE NEW AND THEY ARE NOT AS FORTHCOMING WHEN THEY ARE NEW. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS OR KNOW WHAT I SHOULD WRITE. THANKS JULIE p.s. Great to watch Andre Agassi beat the German guy (cant remember his name). I really like Andre.
Guest guest
, I'm in a similar boat with Sian, & I'm going to send a note home with everyone in the class. It won't hurt to give the people who read it last year a little reminder, & it'll give the newbies the basic info. Then I think I'll just have to organise play dates with the new children over the first term. Only one week and two days to go! Much love, - Mum to Cate 10yrs wocf and Sian 6yrs wcf, asthma, GERD and ADD? Canberra Australia-

Guest guest
Hi , Know just how you feel, Kristy starts High School this year and she'll be mixing with many more students each day than she has in Primary School. The School's first aid lady provided us with a " Cystic Fibrosis Care Plan " now required to be completed by the student's Specialist by the Dept of Education. It's great (as long as the school can understand the doctors writing, lol) The School has been very co- operative, we met with the transistion teacher and first aid lady late last year. Unfortunately, educating other parents is another matter altogether. Last year worked well for us, this is going to be very different. I guess because Kristy is now 13, she herself is aware when another student could be a risk to her and she can take steps to remove herself from the class and have the school contact us. She is going to be provided with a *pass out* card, so if she needs to leave class for any reason she will not have to stand there justifying why to the many different teachers she will now have! I guess for us it's sit back and see how it all works out. In Primary school Kristy's teachers did a newsletter at the beginning of each term, if your teachers do this, perhaps Eilish's teacher could just make mention there is a student in the class with cf, together with a few basic details and ask all parents to take particular care if their child is unwell because it puts Eilish at risk. It's not worth getting them sick. Deb A
