I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with. I need to

have a sign for my front door made, it has to say something like...if

you're sick or not feeling well please do not enter my house. People

just don't seem to realize that it may be just a cold or a headcold

or sinus for them but its usually a hospital admission for my kids.

My daughter is in the hospital now because someone came over (a

family member) and said... " oh its just a headcold " . I don't know how

to get these people to realize the importance of it, before we go to

parties or anyones house we always ask if anyone is sick, even when

we get there we ask, because you never know. Some people actually

look at us like we're too overprotective of our kids but they don't

know the consequences. We finally decided on a sign for our front

door. Does anyone have any suggestions for a suitable saying? My

girlfriend had a preemie and she had a handwritten sign for a couple

of months, I need something permanent!!!!

Thanks

I have CF and also now post lung transplant. So I must have signs on doors

about those who may have a cold that they not enter the house.

I have only a computer printed out sign, but this is what they say. There are

three signs on the back door " Do NOT enter if you have a cold " , " Hey, did you

stop at the Hand Wash Center " " STOP AT hand wash center " . Just inside the

door I have a wire rack with hand cleaning supplies and also masks, gloves

and all sorts of antibacterial supplies.

Some people don't know they have germs, as it has not become symptomatic.

Also, they may of touched something germy and bring them in the house. That

is why there is Purell at the back door, antimicrobial foam for hands,

alcohol spray bottle. People that come into our house must use one of those

products and then proceed to bathroom and wash their hands with soap and warm

water and then use a paper towel. Also house rules are cover mouth, wash

hands frequently, and no picking at food with fingers. We have " sick people "

rules too. If a family member is sick they have rules to follow. I also

don't think anything is wrong with educating those who come to your house.

Talk to them on the phone about CF and how the viruses, and infections you

and then get can mean permanent damage to the lungs for your child. Tell them

a simple cold can mean IV's months of weight loss and damage the lungs and

lead to a lung transplant sooner than you had hoped. If they don't get it,

pass them literature. If the don't get it still, then maybe have a rule they

have to be outdoor visitors only. Risking your child's health to make sure

you have " so called friends " is not worth the risk. I have a sister that is

oblivous to the health predicament. My sister and I are both post lung

transplant and our older sister just will not " get it " what that means. She

is pratically sprayed with alcohol when she walks in the door and reprimanded

if she breaks any house rules.

Good luck
