You should keep in mind that FMLA has several stipulations including the size

of your employers business. If you work for a company that has few

employees FMLA may not apply to you.

Hi everyone,

Had my endoscopic ultrasound done yesterday and it is official I

definitly have chronic pancreatitis. I guess I am glad to finally

have a diagnosis. The doc said she couldn't image my pancreatic

duct very well so she still recommends that I have the ERCP, I am

not sure if she means the one with the splincterotomy or not.

My primary care doc was looking for a cancer, which they didn't find

thank God. They also didn't find a stone or anything that would be

the cause unfortunatly, but I think I still came out to the good.

My mind is still trying to wrap around the significant facts here,

one of which is that my company is not going to be happy that I have

something that probably won't be fixed, how have ya'll handled that?

I have missed quite a bit of work in the last few years, and it is

usually suddenly I am too sick to go to work.

Hope everyone is having a painfree day,

Shelia

Sheila:

I felt just like you that I was happy to receive a diagnosis, though

at the time I didn't know what that really meant! But it has been a year

later, and I'm living and working with it. I must take all the medications

prescribed by the PMS every day and can function fairly well. I have only

missed 3 days this year, where last year and the year before it was quite

significant. Though my boss knows I have chronic pancreatitis, I'm not sure

she knows exactly what that even means. I still have people say, but I

thought they fixed what was wrong with me. My reply is, do you know what

chronic means? (Grin) Anyway, I just try not to project further than today

about my life. One day at a time I do the very best I can do. Though my

life after work no longer consists of workouts and all the other activities

I used to do, I am finally accepting my limits. Diet is super, super

important. I feel the best when I don't cheat at all! I'm glad you are all

clear of the possibility of cancer. That would be scary. So, hang in there!

And make sure you get a doctor who will work with you on managing pain if

you still have it.
