Guest guest
I am very new to this Pancreatitis thing...never knew I had it until I went in to the emergency room for extreme pain thinking that the pain was from the recent installation of my G/J tube for my Gastroparesis which was installed on March 10, 2003. I left the hospital on 3/12, went to the ER on 3/15, and was told by the ER doctor that my Lipase count was 1,300! Of course, I did not know what that meant, but he said he would admit me again. Sure enough, after 2.5 weeks in the hospital 1 ERCP, 2 CT scans, and countless lab works, my Lipase never came back down. Alas, I was discharged from the hospital on 3/27, went to see my GI doctor, who then did another lab test, and my count was still at around 1,079. Still high...still alot of pain, Vicodin didn't work, so after days of going in and out of the doctor's office for pain shots, he finally put the pain patch on. A bit better, but still some pain. I see the doctor again tomorrow 4/7. Hope he can give me some more answers as to what to do. As far as the Gastroparesis, I'm on tube feedings, and all my medications are via the tube. I am also justs going into remission for Leukemia, still have 2 more cycles, then I'm free. I'm happy, I have a wonderful fiance, my 2 boxers Bull and Moose, and Kit Kat the kitten. I have a wonderful home life, and couldn't ask for more...thank you for letting me join your club....
Guest guest
Dear Marlene, How very difficult it must be for you to cope with pancreatitis on top of your gastroparisis and lupus, to boot. By now you must be too well accustomed to chronic pain and difficulties, but that still doesn't make living with CP any easier. I'm sorry this had to happen to you. I've never heard of anyone that maintained such high lipase levels over such a long period of time. Please let us know what questions you may have or how we can help.
