Guest guest
-Hi, Have the doctors checked for a loose larnix or tracia. Or neighbours little girl coughs quit a bit and the doctors found that her larnix is loose and should tighten as she grows. And if it doesn't they can sergically ajust it. It is just a thought, hope it helps. Kim mom of Kiefer 4 ncf and Wyatt 2 wcf -- In cfparents , RSBRT@a... wrote: > We are going crazy with s(12 cf carrier) cough. This is getting out > of hand. Guest guest
I am sorry to hear about your son, and I understand how this type of thing can start to wear on you. My 4 yr old son Jack (non cf - not sure if a carrier) is constantly coughing during the winter months as well. He is prone to croup - which his doctors tell us a tightening of the trachea in response to viral illness. Every time anyone in the house gets so much as a runny nose - he will wake up in the middle of the night with a barky cough which is sometimes so bad he vomits while gasping for air. A residual cough lingers for weeks. It seems as if he is never without a cough. My husband has had him in dozens of times - no asthma, some allergies, lungs are always clear. What they have us do is albuterol and 3 days of prednisone if the initial attack is severe. It all started just after he got a viral bronchiolitis (probably RSV) at about 18 months, though I'm not sure it's related. My sympathies are with you - but I can't be of much help - this is our third winter of this, and we're just out of ideas. Does it sound familiar? Guest guest
Sally, If you find anything to help with the cough, pleeeease let me know! Sounds a lot like me! Seems I am allergic to about everything in the air and on surfaces. And a double carrier of CF mutations. Aunt B
Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your replies regarding 's cough. We had the methacholine test and he definitely tested positive for asthma. They immediately put him on Pulmicort and nebulized albuterol, seems that the propellent in the mdi albuterol was making his cough worse. He will start his injections next week and hopefully we are on the right track. Even with all his coughing he still won second place in his spelling bee. Hasn't been the same since. We had several years of cough, pneumonias, streps, etc. Turns out he had immune deficiency. Hopefully this winter will be better for you. - Sally - Mom of Bri 14 JV All star amazing best cheerleader 12w/asthma 9w/cf & ds
