Nashville snow- (and PA question)

Yes, the Nashville snow was pretty bad! We actually live about 50 miles

northwest of Nashville, but we had a CF clinic appointment at Vanderbilt that

morning. The snow came in earlier than expected, and it ended up taking us 4

1/2 hours to get home where it usually takes around an hour. You are right,

the people in our area do not know how to drive in the stuff because we never

see much of it. Luckily, my husband was with me or I would have been in

Nashville all weekend.

At the visit, we had a lot of questions because one of my twin sons cultured

PA about 8 months ago. At that time we decided not to do anything because

the doctor thought it could be his sinuses since the result was from a throat

culture and not a sputum culture. (They are only 4 years old now) Well, the

one that cultured it has been coughing quite a bit lately. They seem to

think his problem is allergy related because he has all of the classic

allergy symptoms, but I requested another culture anyway. If this one comes

back positive, I am going to have him put on TOBI. My question is this, how

long do they usually take TOBI. I know it is one month on and one month off,

but for how many months. Is it until he doesn't culture it again? I have a

problem with him being on an antibiotic permanently- not to mention the

strain this drug puts on the pocketbook. Thanks for any information you can

give me.

Take care,

Peggy

When we are positive they will have us do tobi for a month and then culture

them again. If they are still positive then they have to do it ofr 3 months

at a time before the culture them again. They do this until it is irrigated.

Hope this helps Deb A
