Guest guest
, Its 11.10pm and I still didn't have a bath (jumped in the shower). Had so much to do, the fun stuff like washing and house work. Because its been so hot cant do much in the day. We haven't seen the sky because we've hidden inside with the heat. Tomorrow is only 34/100f, which is better than the 42c/105f it was in our yard this afternoon. I remember the Ash Wednesday fires when I was in high school, watching it coming down the hill. We loved it because we all got to go home early. We didn't realise how serious it was. Your girls must go to a private school? Mine do and they don't start back till the 4th and the public go back on the 28th Jan. Re: 1st sleepover , I hope you enjoy your bubble bath. Relaxing is good. Did I let everyone know that we finished Sian's flush out? We saw the GP today and he was very happy with her. While there is still stuff in the cecum, it is soft and pliable (I think the technical description from him was gooey and mushy!). So we go with two weeks of Agarol and see him again on Jan. 31st. And then the girls go back to school on 4 Feb. Only two weeks and four days to go........ Cate saw the psychologist yesterday - that went very well. (the psych) was really friendly and approachable, and says that while Cate certainly was depressed, she has controlled it very well, & doesn't need intervention at the moment. Woo Hoo!! Bushfires all over the place here. Damn hot and horribly windy. I'm going to pack the evacuation alert box before I go to bed. (All the photos albums, the wills, birth & marriage certificates, a torch, and batteries. There's a second box for medications. I love Australia in summer... I have only seen the sky for about 2 hours this week. The rest of the time it's been covered in smoke. As for the asthma, well.... Much love to all, - Mum to Cate 10yrs wocf and Sian 6yrs wcf, asthma, GERD and ADD? Canberra Australia-
Guest guest
Welcome to smoky Canberra! The fires are about 3km or so away from our place at the moment - once again we have no sky, just smoke. The pool has a ring of ash & burnt leaves around the edges - gross! It's going to be around 38oC/102oF here today, and the wind is terrible. The sun is trying to shine through the smoke, so the world is this creepy orange shade.... We are not officially on evacuation alert yet. At 3km away, the fire would have to cross a valley and a river and other hill before it came into the valley we live in. I'm sure that there are a pile of farmers in the valley over from me fighting to save houses and stock. It's a truly sobering feeling. I'm keeping Sian inside as much as possible today. Mind you, my evaporative air cooler works best with open doors & windows, so the house still has that smoky feel to it. There's an official health alert out for asthmatics/people with respiratory illness. asked about schools. Yes, my girls go to a private school. I find the private system caters for our somewhat challenging requirements a little better than the government ones. Much love to all, - Mum to Cate 10yrs wocf and Sian 6yrs wcf, asthma, GERD and ADD? Canberra Australia-
Guest guest
Wow we live in Alaska and don't have to worry about fires unless of coarse it's a house fire. That can't be good on their lungs, how hard for you. I hope all is going ok for you and your family. mabey i could send you some snow to help cool you all down (ha,ha). Truely if there is anything i can do to help please let me know and good luck. > Welcome to smoky Canberra!
