Guest guest
Hey to everyone, I need some information on cf. , who is now 19 months is doing so good. But, he went today for his rsv shots. They were a little worried about his belly. They said he could have gas or stool. He does have a big belly. I thought he got that from his daddy. Is any of this normal? And, would someone please give me more information. mom of 4 2 w/cf Micheal 2 jacob 1year old _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
No need to worry. It is definately normal. My son is almost 20 now and the belly is gone but, I look back on baby pictures and his belly was huge compared to the rest of him.
Guest guest
Hi , Fiona, who is doing very well too, had that big belly for at least three years. I can't remember exactly when it got better and why. Maybe her digestion improved and she had less gas. Or her belly mucles got stronger. It's a normal sign of CF and as long as 's stomach doesn't hurt it's nothing to worry about. Peace Torsten, dad of Fiona 5wcf > > > Hey to everyone, > > I need some information on cf. , who is now 19 months is doing so > good. But, he went today for his rsv shots. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear we're not the only ones with a big belly. Strangers even comment on my babies belly " Oh look at that big belly, you're such a fat baby and all full too! " . With my baby I know it is caused in part by her enlarged liver, but I don't think that accounts for all of it. Our GI doc told us some CF kids just have a big belly. I'm also glad to hear it's something they outgrow! Keeley mom to Leila, 5m. wcf and A1AT liver, Hadley, 2.5yrs. nocf and normal liver Re: NEED SOME INFORMATION No need to worry. Guest guest
Keeley, We were told is the malabsorption that causes it. Eilish used to have it but she is five now and its gone. Guest guest
Hi , I'd say its pretty normal. Loads of CF kids have " pot bellies " , in worst case scenario they resemble starving children from Biafra or some such. This usually improves after diagnosis and enzymes. had one untill she was around 8 or 9, we did start giving her Tums and that helped with some of the gas. Hers was bad enough that kids in second grade teased her about being pregnant! might be gassy or retaining stool, a abdominal series of x-rays can check for an obstructed bowel. Are his poops ok? Is he constipated? hope this helps, love, M NEED SOME INFORMATION Hey to everyone, I need some information on cf. , who is now 19 months is doing so good. But, he went today for his rsv shots. Guest guest
, That certainly makes sense. I wish people wouldn't comment on my baby's belly (even though it's harmless, really). I guess I'm a little sensitive about it. She is lovely in every other way, but looks a little silly when she has a button-up outfit on and the tummy part gaps. I suppose she'll be skinny soon enough! Eventually I'll get around to posting a picture here. Oh, I hope your Eilish is having a wonderful time at her sleepover! I thought your message about that was really sweet. BTW, what is salt powder? Is it really tasteless? If so, how do I get some? We are still having trouble getting Leila to take extra salt. It's so funny to think it's hot where you are, because we are in the 30's right now. That's cold for sunny Florida. Keeley Re: NEED SOME INFORMATION No need to worry. It is definately normal. Guest guest
Miah is 9 now and her belly is fairly small but it was huge when she was little which looked pretty funny considering her rib cage looked like we were starving her. She looks very well perportioned now so i would'nt worry about it too much. > Keeley, > > We were told is the malabsorption that causes it. Guest guest
Toni, my daughter without CF always had a " pot belly " . We thought that it was kind of cute. She outgrew it by the time she was 12. Gale > > Keeley, > > > > We were told is the malabsorption that causes it.
