Guest guest
Hi Hillary, My grandmother, who just passed away earlier this month at the ripe old age of 99, owned a lock-log cabin on N. Wisconsin. It now belongs to her children, to eventually be passed down to her grandchildren. When I was growing up, there was nothing to impede our view of the mountains, from her dining room. There is now a small apartment building next door. Mind you, I'm 44 years old, so things have definitely changed! LOL We used to walk down to the drug store in the afternoon, and get shakes or ice cream sundaes. I used to love the horseback riding, arrowhead hunting, and fishing we did all summer long. My grandfather used to take us to several places along the Gunnison, and Cripple Creek. I could gut a rainbow trout by the age of 3! LOL The fireworks displays that they used to put on in the University stadium were just fantastic! I really miss those days! I can totally understand why you wouldn't want to leave the state. Colorado is the next best thing to heaven! The only state that I've found that kind of compares is Washington. There, we had not only the mountains, but the ocean as well. pat
Guest guest
Pat, I agree, there are few places on earth more beautiful than Colorado specifically and the west in general. In all of the places I've been, I have yet to find someplace as equally magical (although being raised here has probably made me more than a little biased). My parents are both quite outdoorsy and have passed their love of nature onto my brother and I. My dad is a master fly fisherman and he tried to pass that passion onto his kids, but neither one of is patient enough. Skiing is still of my favorite activities, though and we had horses up until I went to college. I know I'm incredibly lucky to live where I do. Best Wishes, Hillary 21, RSS
